About the Item

A rare vessel by Klaus Moje. Cf.: Dan Klein, "Artists in Glass - Late twentieth Century Masters in Glass", Beazley, London, 2001: Like many of the best contemporary glass artists Moje has expanded his chosen technique farther than could ever have been imagined, .... Despite his European roots one now thinks of Moje as an Australian artist, who more than anyone else has set the high standards of contemporary Australian glass. Moje was educated as a glass cutter. Since the late 1970ties he worked with kiln-formed glass. This item is very rare within the artists Œuvre, being one of very few vases that Moje worked on. While bending the limits of fusing earlier, it seems that in the mid 1990ties he finally had access to the people and facilities that allowed him to get his fused mosaic rolled up on a glass pipe. The applied base and rim of the vessel are decorated with glittering copper inclusions. The whole body of the vessel has been skillfully coldworked and refined with cutting by Moje. The item is signed, dated und numbered.
