About the Item

A playful and collectible hand-painted ceramic vase designed by Stig Lindberg and decorated by Ursula Printz for Gustavsberg, Sweden, in the 1950s. This mid-century Scandinavian piece features Lindberg’s signature whimsical yet structured design — a bold geometric pattern of vertical stripes and intersecting bands in teal, mustard yellow, olive green, and deep brown. Beautifully executed with expressive brushwork, the vase is hand-signed on the base and marked with the Gustavsberg anchor stamp and "Hand Drejad" (hand-thrown). The form is elegantly curved, tapering at the neck and flaring slightly at the rim, enhancing the rhythmic quality of the surface design. Ursula Printz, one of Gustavsberg’s master decorators, adds an extra layer of craftsmanship and rarity to the piece. The collaboration between Lindberg and Printz embodies the creative peak of Swedish ceramics in the postwar era.
