About the Item

Suzanne Ramié, co-founder of Atelier Madoura, played a central role in reviving the pottery traditions of Vallauris in the south of France during the 20th century. Established in 1938 with her husband Georges Ramié, the studio became an important hub for artistic experimentation, particularly after World War II. Suzanne Ramié was known for her refined sense of form and glaze, producing works that balanced traditional craftsmanship with modern artistic expression. The Vase exemplifies this approach. Typically handcrafted, these vases feature elegant silhouettes and carefully applied glazes, often inspired by natural forms and Mediterranean aesthetics. Atelier Madoura gained international recognition when artists such as Pablo Picasso collaborated with the workshop, further elevating its reputation. Today, Madoura vases are valued both as functional objects and as collectible works of art, reflecting a legacy of innovation, collaboration, and enduring craftsmanship in ceramic design.
