About the Item

A stunning mid-century Murano art glass bowl or ashtray, attributed to the prestigious workshop of Barovier & Toso, Venice, circa 1950-1960. This exquisite piece features a vibrant ruby-red interior, encased in a thick layer of clear glass heavily infused with 24kt gold leaf. The exterior is crafted using the celebrated "Cordonato d’Oro" (golden cord) technique, creating a distinctive rope-like relief texture. This is further enhanced by the "Bullicante" method, which produces controlled, rhythmic air bubbles that catch and reflect light brilliantly. Special Feature: This set is exceptionally rare as it includes the original matching glass tamper (Gluttöter). While the bowls are highly collectible on their own, finding one with its original, hand-blown glass accessory still intact is a true rarity for serious collectors of Italian art glass. Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor age-appropriate wear to the base. Specifications: Creator: Attributed to Barovier & Toso Design Period: 1950 to 1959 Country of Manufacture: Italy (Murano) Materials: Murano Glass, 24kt Gold Leaf Techniques: Cordonato d'Oro, Bullicante
