This striking antique wine cage, crafted in Burgundy circa 1880, embodies the practical elegance of traditional French wine storage. Forged entirely of hand-worked iron, the tall rectangular form is constructed with vertical strapwork and undulating horizontal supports designed to cradle bottles securely on their sides. The rhythmic wave pattern is not only visually distinctive but functional, allowing proper horizontal storage for aging wines. A hinged front door opens to reveal multiple tiers accommodating up to seventy-two bottles, and is fitted with its original working lock and key, offering both security and authenticity. The piece retains its original matte black patinated finish, with a beautifully time-worn surface that highlights the hand-forged construction and subtle irregularities of 19th-century ironwork.
