About the Item

Hallmarked in London in 1831 by John Edward Terrey, this handsome William IV antique sterling silver and glass centrepiece features a grand pedestal stand supporting a large, cut-glass bowl. The central column is elaborately chased with acanthus leaf and scrolling foliate motifs, extending to four scrolling branches adorned with grape and vine detailing that each hold a matching silver candle socket. The piece rests upon a shaped, circular base standing on four cast acanthus and shell feet. This impressive centrepiece measures 21.75”(55.5cm) tall by 22.5”(57cm) wide and deep, with a silver weight of 156.4 troy ounces.
