About the Item

Amazing pair of porcelain apothecary jars, with cartouches reading "Amber" and "Opium." These jars were traditionally used by apothecaries to store medicinal liquids. However, in addition to their functional use, they were decorated with paintings that, as in this case, simulated frames for the names of the substances they contained, with intertwined plant and geometric decorative elements, purely ornamental, as well as gold bands. The very concept of their form goes beyond the merely functional. Currently, they are also used as decorative items or jars for storing kitchenware.
