About the Item

These are a very decorative pair of Large Soup Bowls or Plates by Mason's Ironstone, England dating to the late 19th Century, Circa 1880. These are a pair with very slight differences to the hand coloring detail Each bowl or deep plate is circular in shape with a slightly indented rim and is decorated in one of Mason's most vividly colored and sought after chinoiserie patterns. The flying bird pattern, as documented on page 121 of; A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns, circa 1813-1848, published by The Masons Collectors' Club. The pattern would have been transfer printed then hand-painted in bold enamels, with additional hand gilded detail. The base of the plates have the round crown mark and banner with Mason's above, printed in blue, dating them to the late 19th century, circa 1880.
