About the Item

This elegant English decanter set combines the brilliance of cut glass with the refinement of late 20th-century silverwork. Comprising a decanter with silver collar, a matching silver decanter label, and a silver-rimmed wooden coaster, the ensemble evokes the timeless formality of the traditional drinks cabinet. Each silver component is fully hallmarked for 1995, with the collar produced by Barker Ellis Silver Co., the decanter label by Francis Howard Ltd, and the coaster by W.E.V. Together, they represent the work of respected English silversmiths continuing the country's long tradition of finely appointed tableware. The decanter itself features a broad, flared body cut with vertical prism facets that catch and refract the light beautifully. Above, the shoulders taper into a slender neck fitted with a silver collar, while a substantial faceted stopper completes the silhouette. The crisp geometry of the cutting lends the glass both sparkle and weight, balancing decorative appeal with practical use. The accompanying silver decanter label adds a touch of ceremony associated with the well-kept drinks service, while the matching coaster, formed with a polished wooden centre and silver rim, protects surfaces while creating a cohesive presentation. The result is a sophisticated set equally suited to display in a study, dining room, or bar. Classic in its design and beautifully coordinated, this decanter ensemble reflects the enduring appeal of English entertaining traditions and the continued craftsmanship of Britain's silversmithing industry. Condition The set remains in good overall condition, with light surface wear, minor tarnish, and small marks consistent with careful use. The glass is clear and bright, and the silver hallmarks remain crisp and legible throughout. We ship internationally, tracked and insured.
