About the Item

A set of eight Scottish ironstone divided chop grill plates, attributed to J.Marshall & Co., Bo’ness, Scotland, circa 1860. Substantial enough for outdoor grilling and dining when you want to set a great looking table without using paper or plastic. Molded with three sections for serving a main course and two sides. Larger and heavier than a standard dinner sized plate. The pattern is named ‘Bosphorus,’ inspired by a region near Istanbul, Turkey. The romantic, exotic chinoiserie style landscape is transfer printed in cobalt blue with a floral border and a yellow banding to the rolled rim. 11.25 in. diameter x 1 in. deep. Marked on the verso with the pattern name in a cartouche. In very good antique condition with the expected overall fine crazing, minor darkening to a few of the rims.
