Antique Bohemian Enamelled Glass Hookah Base, c. 1880–1910 Elegant late 19th-century Bohemian hookah (nargile) base in clear optic-ribbed glass, richly decorated with hand-painted polychrome enamel floral sprays and scrolling gilt ornament. The bulbous body rises to a tall flared neck, while the underside features a finely cut starburst design, demonstrating the quality of its manufacture. Produced for the flourishing export trade to Ottoman and Middle Eastern markets, this example combines the vibrant enamel decoration and refined glass working for which Bohemian workshops were renowned during the period. The delicate floral motifs remain bright and attractive, complemented by original gilding around the top foot and decorative borders. A striking decorative object in its own right, the piece also represents an increasingly sought-after category of 19th-century Islamic-market export glass.
