About the Item

This emerald green-tinted blown glass wine decanter reflects the exceptional savoir-faire of the Daum manufactory in Nancy around 1900. Its subtly ribbed body adds a dynamic texture, while the elegant gold accents—applied using the sophisticated combed decoration technique—highlight the rim, base, and stopper with refined precision. Its form and decorative language are strongly reminiscent of the famed Gui service designed by Edmond Lachenal (1855–c.1955), a renowned ceramicist and painter. In creating this service, Lachenal partnered with the Daum glassworks for the glass elements and Keller & Guérin in Lunéville for the faience components. The complete service, a quintessential example of Art Nouveau aesthetics, has been part of the Musée d’Orsay collection since its donation by dealer Rispal in 2005. This decanter shares clear stylistic and formal affinities with the Gui service and was very likely produced in the same creative context. An exceptional piece for connoisseurs of Art Nouveau design. Additional matching glassware is available upon request, including wine glasses, champagne coupes, water glasses, pitchers, and stoppers. A rare and distinguished addition to any curated collection or refined table setting.
