Bavarian Porcelain Dinnerware Set By Carl Schumann Factory 54 Pieces

Located in Roma, IT

Bavarian Porcelain Dinnerware Set By Carl Schumann Factory 54 Pieces This wonderful dinnerware set, produced by the Carl Schumann Porcelain Factory in Arzberg, is a quintessential example of mid-20th-century Bavarian porcelain craftsmanship. [Crafted from high-quality, translucent white porcelain, frequently referred to in the industry as "White Gold" for its purity and delicate resonance. The set features the iconic "Echt Cobalt" (True Cobalt) underglaze technique. The central motif is the "Dresden Flowers" or "Blue Rose" pattern. It consists of finely detailed, hand-painted floral bouquets, often featuring a central rose surrounded by smaller wildflowers and foliage. The pieces exhibit Rococo Revival influences, seen in the scalloped edges and the subtle basketweave (ozier) relief or "Rose Relief" embossing along the rims. Many items are finished with a delicate gold gilt trim or "Dresden edge," adding a layer of formal elegance and highlighting the rhythmic, scalloped borders. Established in 1881 in Arzberg, Bavaria, the Schumann factory became renowned for its sophisticated "Dresdner Art". This specific style remains highly collectible due to its fusion of traditional 18th-century European floral aesthetics with the refined production standards of 20th-century German manufacturing. Set of Five Antique French Copper Gratin Dishes with Tin Lining and Brass Loop

Set of Five Antique French Copper Gratin Dishes with Tin Lining and Brass Loop

Located in Essex, MA

A charming set of five antique French copper gratin dishes, each measuring 5.5 inches in diameter, dating to the 19th century and consistent with the robust, hand-crafted copperware produced in the great French culinary tradition. Individual gratin dishes of this size — ideal for single-serving preparations — were standard equipment in the well-appointed bourgeois and professional French kitchen, used for gratins, eggs en cocotte, soufflés, and a range of classic baked and broiled dishes. Each shallow dish is formed from heavy-gauge copper with a warm, richly patinated exterior and retains its original tin lining, still largely intact and displaying the characteristic matte silver surface of hand-applied étamage. The standout feature of this set is the distinctive double-loop brass handles affixed to either side of each dish — an elegant and decorative detail that elevates these beyond purely utilitarian wares and makes them as appealing displayed on a kitchen wall or open shelf as they are in use at the table. The copper shows honest patina and age-appropriate wear consistent with genuine antique kitchen use, and the handles retain good brass color with natural toning. A cohesive and highly collectible set that would appeal equally to serious collectors of French antique copperware, culinary historians, and those seeking characterful, functional pieces for a country kitchen or farmhouse interior. Set of: 5 Diameter: 5.5 inches each Condition: Good antique condition; original tin lining present; brass handles intact with natural patina.
