Engine-Turned Elegance: Staffordshire Redware Coffee Pot by Myatt, Circa 1790-1810 A substantial and finely crafted Staffordshire redware coffee pot of ovoid form, produced by the Myatt pottery in the early 19th century. This impressive vessel showcases exceptional engine-turned decoration, featuring alternating bands of precise wave, chevron, and linear patterns cut into the clay across the body. The foot is elegantly encircled with a crimped, rope-twist design. The gracefully curved spout is accented with molded foliate details at its base, complementing the textured loop handle. The matching cover exhibits continuous linear engine-turning over its domed surface and is surmounted by a classic molded acorn finial. The entire piece is finished in a glossy clear glaze, which deepens the natural red clay body to a rich, warm mahogany tone. Measurements: Height: 11 1/2 inches (29.2 cm). Width: 8 inches (20.3 cm) from spout to handle. Depth: 5 inches (12.7 cm). Markings: Impressed "MYATT" to the underside. Condition: Good antique condition; typical minor wear or small frits to the spout or finial edges consistent with early 19th-century earthenware.
