An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Austrian silver coffee pot with spirit burner; an addition to our Georgian silver teaware collection This exceptional antique Austrian silver coffee pot has a plain cylindrical form. The coffee pot body is plain and encompassed with an applied moulded girdle to the upper portion. This exceptional coffee pot is fitted with the original push fit cover, encompassed with a palmette leaf style border to the rim. The cover is surmounted with an impressive cast silver foliated finial. This coffee pot is fitted with an elongated handle overlaid with the original interwoven wicker, strategically interlaced to produce a segmented braided design; this finely detailed feature indicates the high quality of the piece. The pot detaches from the original hallmarked silver stand, supported by four impressive scrolling legs. The circular frame and base of the stand are encompassed with further palmette decorated borders. The lower portion of this silver spirit kettle is embellished with exceptional chased decorated stylised water leaf designs. The upper portion of the body is encompassed with an exceptional band of chased opposing scroll decoration accented with palmette motifs. The upper rim of the kettle is embellished with an applied egg decorated border. This antique silver spirit kettle is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover encircled with further chased water leaf decoration to the domed portion. This extraordinarily rare and masterfully crafted tea urn is by the hand of the master Georgian silversmith Paul Storr. Created by Storr while working for Rundell, Bridge and Rundell, Jewelers and Goldsmiths to the King, this magnificent piece truly represents the sophisticated style of the renowned firm and the enormous talents of Paul Storr. Applied and engraved decoration envelop this masterpiece equipped with a carved handle, lion's head spigot and spectacular lion's paw supports. The piece bears the arms of the Neave Baronetcy with those of Digby, for Sir Thomas Neave and his wife Frances Caroline, daughter of the Hon. William Digby, the Dean of Durham. Though he held no formal title, Storr enjoyed patronage from the most important and powerful figures of the period including King George III and the Prince of Wales, the future King George IV.
