An exceptional, fine and impressive, large and rare antique cast German sterling silver goat sugar box/ table ornament; part of our continental ornamental silverware collection. This exceptional, fine and impressive antique cast sterling silver sugar box has been realistically modelled in the form of a goat. The box has been embellished with fine cast details reproducing the goat's fur and anatomical features. This exceptional antique silver box is fitted with the original push fit head/cover. The hallmarks struck to the sleeve of the cover and body of this large sterling silver goat box include: Importer's mark: JGP (John George Piddington) Silver quality/purity mark: Lion passant (sterling, .925, 925/1000)* Assay mark: Leopard's head (London, England) Date mark: F (1901) Additional mark: F (foreign manufacture mark)** Pseudo marks: B. Neresheimer & Söhne* Such examples modelled in the form of a goat and of this large size are rare and a scarcity to the market; this exceptional box is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. This silver sugar box, equally suited as a functional item or conversation piece, makes a distinctive gift for those who value fine silver, whimsical design and unique decorative objects. NOTE: * Commonly items of German silver are crafted in 800 or 830 standard. This piece, bearing full British hallmarks, is crafted in sterling silver, indicating the high quality of the piece. ** Hanau pseudo-marks were not registered with an administrative office and no records exist to check them against determining an attributed identification to be a comparison or probability. Condition This sterling silver goat table ornament/box is a superior gauge of silver for its size, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The Pseudo hallmarks to the sleeve of the cover, in addition to the British hallmarks to the body and sleeve of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver. A magnificent, fine and impressive, rare antique Victorian English sterling silver vesta box modelled in the form of a boar; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection This magnificent antique Victorian cast sterling silver vesta box has been realistically modelled in the form of a boar. This impressive antique vesta case is embellished with details replicating the features of the boar's coat of fur and anatomical features. The back of the boar incorporates a hallmarked hinged cover which opens to reveal the serrated panel/match striker. The secondary hallmarked hinged panel opens to reveal the original gilt interior; this is faciliated with a thumbpiece modelled in the form of the boar's tail. Such magnificent period examples are rare and becoming increasingly difficult to locate. Condition This antique Victorian vesta box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body, in addition to part hallmarks to the interior of each hinged cover are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
