About the Item

Medieval (15th Century) - style, Continental Silver (.800) Rummer/Roemer style goblet, Germany, Ca. 1920. This form of goblet was popular from the 15th-17th centuries, although the Romans, as far back as the third century, produced this form of goblet in glass. Ridges on stem of goblet supposedly kept the goblet from slipping out of the user's hands. Vacant cartouche is surrounded by etched swirls and leaves. Silver on upper part of goblet also has a matte finish. Lightly gilt interior. Measures 6 inches high x 3 1/8 inches diameter across base x 2 3/4 inches diameter across opening. Weighs 4.480 troy ounces. Dark areas in photos are reflections. In excellent antique condition.
