About the Item

A Stunning Silver and Enamel Kiddush Cup with meticulous and intricate design made by Henryk Winograd in the United States in 1994. Henryk Winograd (1916-2008) was a master silversmith who created beautiful Kiddush cups. He immigrated to the United States from his native Poland in 1972 and began work as a master silversmith and jeweler. He created many Kiddush cups throughout his career using high-quality silver and detailed craftsmanship. Spectacular Kiddush cup made for blessing the wine during the Kiddush ceremony on Shabbat and Jewish holidays. The cup is beautifully embellished with floral and enamel motifs each encircled with fine filigree. The cartouche at the front center features a wonderfully chased scene of an ancient neighborhood built in a castle-like design with crenellations atop each of the structures. At the center of the scene is a staircase leading up to a palace entrance complete with columns with arches under a two-tiered domed roof. A banner with the words "TEPLVM SALOMOIS" meaning "Solomons Temple" is prominently displayed in Russian atop the lower dome. The word "HIEROSOLIMA" which translates to "Jerusalem" in Russian, is etched into the sky of the overall landscape. A circular beaded pattern of enamel and filigree gracefully borders the top and bottom of the cup. This Kiddush cup by Henryk Winograd is a collectible item, especially given Winograd's reputation for fine craftsmanship in silver. Signed and marked at the bottom of the Kiddush Cup. 12.27ozt
