About the Item

A Spiritual Silver Mezuzah Case by William B. Meyers made in Newark, New Jersey Circa 1950. William B. Meyers is a renowned American silversmith and artist of the 20th Century. Meyer's Pieces tell a certain story or sermon rather, of the passion and soul he put into his objects especially religious objects like this Mezuzah Case. This Mezuzah case reminds me of the center of many European Torah shields. At the center of many Shields, there is a Decalogue like this mezuzah case with swinging open doors. Mezuzah case is shaped like the tablets of the Law with the Ten Commandments engraved on its hinged doors. Mounted atop the two tablets is a crown with the word "Shadai", the name of God in Hebrew. Meyers was known to add a certain element of Godliness in his work as he believed any artist was truly blessed by God with a creative talent as evident here in this word pierced into the crown atop the Mezuzah case. Two loops are applied to the back behind the doors which are used for affixing the mezuzah unto a persons Doorway. Marked and signed on the lower back of the swinging Mezuzah doors.
