An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver vinaigrette; an addition to our silver boxes collection This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette has a waisted purse style form. The body of this antique vinaigrette is embellished with chased scrolling leaf and floral ornamentation below a matte texture and tiered leaf decorated border. The box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover embellished with an applied scrolling leaf decorated border the rim. The upper plateau of the cover is ornamented with a scene depicting Windsor Castle. The hinged silver vinaigrette cover allows access to the original hallmarked hinged pierced decorated grille. The underside of the base is plain and unembellished. This impressive antique vinaigrette is an exceptional example of its type. The residence of the British Royal family at Windsor, distinguishable by its Victorian architecture. Condition This Victorian vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The chased decoration is all very sharp. Full hallmarks to the interior of the vinaigrette are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from this fine example of Victorian silverware. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver castle top vinaigrette depicting Abbotsford House, an addition to our collectable box collection. The underside of the box is ornamented with engine turned decoration incorporating a plain rectangular vacant cartouche. Both the base and cover are embellished with applied scrolling leaf decorated borders. The hinged silver vinaigrette cover allows access to the original hallmarked hinged, pierced decorated silver gilt grille. The vinaigrette retains the original gilding; this has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion to an aesthetically pleasing mellow color. This exceptional vinaigrette was crafted by the renowned silversmith Nathaniel Mills. A historical country house which was the former residence of renowned novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott, situated in the Scottish Borders. Condition This antique vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The decoration is very sharp.
