About the Item

A fine Egyptian silver tea service for six, comprising a large round tray, a matching coffee/tea pot, and six accompanying porcelain cups, presented together with its original folding stand — a rare instance of a complete, matched ensemble surviving intact.The tray and pot are worked in silver throughout, covered in finely detailed, dense engraved ornament in the Islamic decorative tradition, combining geometric and stylized foliate motifs across the entire surface. The pot rises to a domed, hinged lid with a raised finial, its long curved spout and scrolling handle continuing the same intricate engraved pattern found on the tray. The six accompanying cups are of white porcelain, undamaged and in fine condition, offered as the service's original drinking vessels. The set is completed by its original folding stand, finely worked in dark wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl and bone in geometric star patterns, its scissor-action base allowing the table to fold flat for storage or travel — a construction typical of the finest Middle Eastern occasional tables of the period. The stand and tray form a genuinely matched pair, rather than a later assembled marriage of parts. The silver throughout weighs 3.5 kg, and the ensemble survives in very good, unrestored condition — a complete and visually striking example of a traditional Egyptian tea service.
