About the Item

Important sterling silver tea and coffee service. The service was entirely handmade in the Baroque style. The body of the coffee pot, teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl is round and have been embossed with a shell design, typical of the Baroque style. Later it was enriched with volute engraving interspersed with knurled segments, to highlight the handwork. The flower knobs and feet are cast and subsequently chiseled. The sugar bowl and the milk jug have been embellished with an internal gilding The oval tray, by the same silversmith, was deliberately made of 800 silver to make it more resistant and not very flexible when the tea and coffee service, positioned above, is moved from one room to another. The handles and the edge of the tray are cast and inside the tray itself, just below the border, a hand-engraved frame has been created following the design of the tea-coffee service. Measures: Coffeepot H. 27 cm. - 1,337 grams Teapot H. 26 cm. - 1,327 grams Sugar Bowl H. 16 cm. - 505 grams Milk Jug H. 13 cm. - 452 grams Tray 58 cm. (69 at the handles) x 45 cm. - 2,608 grams Total weight 6,229 grams Italian silverware, already with a centuries-old tradition, had a great development in the twentieth century and produced pieces of the highest quality that the whole world envies. Italian craftsmanship had a kind of new Renaissance after the war. A great many high-quality silverware was born where exceptional pieces were produced that now decorate the most prestigious houses.
