About the Item

This authentic Vintage Japanese Shogi Game Board from the 1920s showcases traditional Japanese craftsmanship and timeless design. Carved from a solid block of rare Keyaki wood, the board features the classic raised platform with elegantly finished legs typical of traditional Shogi boards used in Japan. Keyaki wood is highly prized for its durability, rich color, and striking grain patterns, making pieces like this highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of Japanese antiques. Originally designed for the strategic game of Shogi (Japanese chess), this piece also serves beautifully as a decorative side table, plant stand, or display pedestal. The underside features Japanese characters that add authenticity and historical charm, while the warm aged patina of the wood reflects its nearly century-old heritage.
