The Parrot's Garden: Dutch Delft Polychrome Chinoiserie Plaque, Circa 1730–40 A rare and vibrant Dutch Delft polychrome wall plaque, dating to the early 18th century (circa 1730–40). The shaped plaque features a raised, molded border decorated with alternating painted panels of flowers and Chinese auspicious objects (such as scrolls and ribbons). The central scene is painted in a distinctive puce, yellow, and green palette, depicting a slightly off-center table holding a vase filled with flowers. Perched prominently on the floral branches is a large yellow parrot, surrounded by several flying insects. To the left, a small figure of a gardener stands with two watering pots at his feet, tending to the scene. The composition is surmounted by a molded blue shell finial pierced with a suspension hole, and the exterior rim is finished in blue. Measurements: Height: 8 7/8 inches (22.5 cm) Width: 9 3/4 inches (24.8 cm) Depth: 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) Condition: Good antique condition. No restoration is present.
