About the Item

Attributed to Ateljé Lyktan of Sweden, this compact pendant lamp dates to the 1960s and features a tiered, hat-shaped shade in black enameled metal. The form is built from two stacked cylindrical drums — a wider, shallower lower section and a narrower upper collar — creating a geometric silhouette characteristic of Scandinavian Mod lighting of the era. The open bottom directs light downward, and the shade hangs from a black cord with a matching black canopy. Ateljé Lyktan, founded in Åhus, Sweden in 1946, became a significant producer of Mid-Century Modern lighting for both residential and commercial markets. The studio was known for clean geometric forms and high-quality enameled finishes, and its output during the 1960s aligned closely with the broader Scandinavian Mod movement that was gaining international attention during that decade. Shows minimal wear consistent with age and use. The enamel finish remains well-preserved with good original condition throughout.
