About the Item

This elegant ceiling lamp showcases Peche’s characteristic transition toward a fresh, geometric and almost cubist decorative language. Crafted from high-quality brass with a combination of bronze patination, the chandelier reflects the refined craftsmanship and imaginative ornamentation associated with early 20th-century Viennese design. The striking central element takes the form of a decorative disc with a softly undulating edge. From its center rises a tapered cone, suspended from a substantial chain with large links and finished with a matching conical ceiling canopy concealing the electrical connection. Three gracefully curved tubular arms extend from the central disc, each ending in a small cubic decorative element with a downward-facing conical ceramic socket holder for the light bulbs. The chandelier retains its original early 20th-century bulb holders with standard screw fittings, adding to its authentic historical character. Its elegant proportions, geometric details, and refined brass workmanship make it a remarkable example of Viennese decorative arts. Dagobert Peche (1887–1923) was one of Austria’s most influential designers and a key figure of the Wiener Werkstätte. Originally trained as an architect, Peche became internationally recognized for his highly imaginative designs in furniture, interiors, jewelry, textiles, glass, ceramics, and decorative objects. His work is distinguished by rich ornamentation, playful geometric forms, and a unique balance between delicacy and monumentality. His designs played an important role in shaping the development of European Art Deco.
