About the Item

A contemporary Italian glass chandelier in the manner of Mazzega, composed of 40 handblown Murano glass elements. Each piece is formed with a clear outer shell encasing a softly opaque white center, creating a layered effect that adds depth to the composition. The gently flared profiles curve and taper with subtle variation, revealing the hand of the maker and the fluid nature of Venetian glass. Arranged in a cascading, tiered formation around a metal frame, the elements create a sense of movement and rhythm. When illuminated, the white glass diffuses the light from within, while the clear edges catch and refract it—emitting a warm, atmospheric glow. Sculptural yet balanced, it works beautifully as a focal point over a dining table, in an entryway, or anywhere a soft but commanding presence is desired. Murano, the storied island in the Venetian lagoon, has been at the heart of glassmaking for over 700 years. Its artisans shaped molten glass through breath and flame, passing techniques from master to apprentice—each piece a quiet echo of that enduring craft. Condition: Great condition. The metal frame shows patina and areas of oxidation, consistent with age and use. The structure supports 40 glass elements and includes five additional spare glass pieces.
