Another wonderful find for collectors of fine French Art Deco lighting. This wonderful and practical-size French chandelier dates from the early twentieth century and comes with a truly stunning coloured glass shade. It was made by one of France’s finest names when it comes to high quality Art Deco light fixtures. In image 20 you can see the “G.V. de Croismare” mark in the glass shade. This mark refers to the Grandes Verreries de Croismare, the Croismare glassworks connected to the famous Muller Frères Lunéville production. While glass from the main works is typically signed “Muller Frères Lunéville,” pieces from the Croismare works are known to bear the “G.V. de Croismare” mark. This makes the shade not only highly decorative, but also very interesting from a collector’s point of view. The warm orange, yellow and green tones in the glass create a beautiful almost sunset-like effect, especially when the light is switched on. The finely worked black wrought iron frame, with its scrolling lines and hand-forged leaf decorations, is the perfect complement to the richly coloured glass bowl. It gives this pendant both elegance and strength, without making it heavy or over-decorated. This relatively small-size chandelier most certainly has all the charm and quality one hopes to find in a 1920s Art Deco light fixture. Combined with the wonderful light that it radiates, this pendant is ideal for creating just the right atmosphere in a small dining area, a reading room, bedroom, hallway or stylish entrance.
