About the Item

- A matching pair of extra large oval lid opaline glass ceiling pendants with heavily patinated galleries, England circa 1920. - Incredible eye catching shape with beautiful white opaline glass, wear commensurate of age, both in wonderful heavily patinated condition. - Rewired with dark brown braided flex and PAT tested, price is for the pair. - Height 50cm, Width 44cm, Depth 44cm. Opaline Glass Opaline is a form of decorative glassware which was made throughout the 19th century, manufacture was predominantly French, although it was inspired by Venetian Milk Glass, and White Glass produced in Bristol. The popularity of Opaline glass began during the reign of Napoleon and various locations across in England were involved in their production. The opaline glass is characterised by a bright white colour, the high lead content defined it as crystal like, giving it jewel-like qualities across its appearance.
