Colour options: Lime / Orange / Blue / Pink / Red / Aqua All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. Tūī are the real characters of Aotearoa’s native bush. They hurtle through the bush with drumming wing-beats, miraculously avoiding branches whilst maintaining their cool charm. Their song is like no other: a series of clicks, gurgles, and resonant, bell-like notes... some off our hearing scale! They have two dangling white wattles on their throats, and around their shoulders is a necklace of interwoven rings, which is the inspiration for our Tūī light. Half rings of bamboo are woven into a basket form that would sit perfectly over a dining table, kitchen counter, or equally hanging in a stairwell or entrance void. Tūī lights are made from bamboo plywood, which is a hard-wearing, high-quality material. It is also highly sustainable due to its rapid growth. The bamboo we use is a secondary product from the food industry. David Trubridge is an internationally renowned lighting designer who is resolute in his mission to create sustainably produced products with a natural and organic aesthetic. Trubridge believes that the combination of these two principles directly affects the product’s sustainability, maintaining that consumers are less likely to discard products that are beautiful. His work came to prominence in 2001 when the Italian design house Cappellini bought the rights for his steambent ash recliner, Body Raft. The Coral light followed in 2003, establishing a blueprint for kitset products that minimised their environmental footprint. The company is proud to be B-Corp certified and holds Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for their range of lights. The company is driven by a strong environmental responsibility which informs all aspects of design and production, and tries to create a caring and enjoyable workplace for all employees. Such motivations come before profit.
