Unique Dutch Arts & Crafts brass and stained glass entry hall lantern, circa 1900. If you are looking for the best and the rarest when it comes to European Arts and Crafts antiques then this extremely rare hallway or entry hall pendant with its original cathedral glass panels could be yours to own and enjoy soon. There were several famous Dutch designers who designed these unique Arts and Crafts lights and luckily in the early 1900s these amazing designs could have been hand-crafted here, because we also had some of the best artisans / metal workers in Europe here. Nothing in the European design world would have had these strong and straight lined designs and the first people to own this Dutch Arts and Crafts lantern too would be ahead of their time and true innovators. This highly decorative antique pendant light is a wonderful example of early 20th century Dutch Arts & Crafts design, with clear Jugendstil influences in both the form and the elegant metalwork. The lantern has a beautifully shaped brass frame with a warm, naturally aged patina and comes with wonderful green textured glass panels, each centered by a small ruby-red floral glass medallion. The combination of the green glass, the red flower-like ornaments and the bronze-gold patinated frame gives this lantern a truly warm and atmospheric presence. When lit, the textured glass creates a beautiful play of light and reflections on the surrounding walls and ceiling, making this fixture especially attractive for an entry hall, landing, vestibule, corridor, stairwell or any other space where a characterful antique light can make a strong first impression. This rare lantern was originally made as a gas fixture around 1900 and has since been professionally converted for safe and immediate use as an electric light. The original gas-related character has been respectfully preserved, while the fixture has been adapted to modern electrical standards. Thanks to its elegant proportions, warm patina and beautifully colored glass, this antique Dutch lantern will work beautifully in both period interiors and more contemporary homes where one unique historical feature can make all the difference.
