About the Item

A striking large 19th Century French repoussé white metal candlestick. Originally an altar or ecclesiastical pricket, now converted to a lamp base. The tall baluster stem is richly worked with scrolling foliate motifs and raised detail, above a lobed base with further chased ornament, retaining a beautifully timeworn patina throughout.  At 177cm high, this is a dramatic, architectural piece—ideal for a grand hallway, beside a console, or as a statement floor lamp base.
