A handsome and most decorative French Turn of the Century Louis XVI st. Wrought Iron lantern. The octagonal four arm four light lantern consist of an eight sided cage with bottom spheres below each corner. Along the top edge is a scalloped Iron band below a pierced band. Above the glass panel top is the top crown which is composed of circular and curved pressed bands with diamond and rounded decorations. Inside the curved and pressed bands forming the crown shape are palmette designed movements below a pierced spherical dome topped by a draping foliate decoration.
