About the Item

A large scale and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu sconces. Each beautiful three arm sconces is centered by a foliate decorated bottom finial. The finial is attached to the bottom of the back plate that is designed with hanging laurel vines, berried foliate movements, and lightly scrolled acanthus leaves. Each of the three squared arms is accented with an acorn top cap and a ram's head below. Extending up each arm are berried laurel vine central reserves and acanthus leaves underneath. The tastefully detailed bobeches are designed with an array of foliate decorations while supporting the foliate decorated candle cup above which is adorned with swaging floral garlands. Above the arms, the back plate leads upward with immense scrolling acanthus leaves that curl over the top. *Shades shown for display purposes, sold separately.
