About the Item

Rare and highly sculptural Italian wall light by D.I.W., inspired by the form of a fountain pen and produced in the 1960s–1970s. This distinctive sconce features a tubular aqua opaline glass diffuser with a softly frosted translucency, emitting a warm and atmospheric glow when illuminated. The glass is signed “D.i.W.”, a scarce and desirable detail confirming its origin and maker. The lamp is anchored by a sleek chrome-plated metal mount shaped like a pen nib, lending the piece a playful yet refined graphic presence characteristic of Italian modern design. The subtle blue tone of the opaline glass is less common than standard white examples, reflecting the experimental color sensibility of late mid-century Italian lighting. Designed for versatility, this wall light can be installed vertically or horizontally, allowing it to adapt effortlessly to a variety of spaces. Its pen-inspired form makes it especially perfect for a writer’s studio, home office, library, or creative workspace, while also working beautifully in hallways, reading corners, and bedrooms. The bold silhouette pairs seamlessly with mid-century modern, Space Age, and eclectic interiors. The lamp is in excellent vintage condition, with minor age-appropriate wear consistent with its period. It is currently wired with a cord and plug; the cord can be changed to a different color or length upon request. Rewiring or hardwiring options can also be discussed. All of our orders are carefully packed and shipped within 24–48 hours.
