Rare pair of hand-forged and hand-hammered iron wall sconces with oak plaques and with makers Mark. A striking pair of Gothic Revival wall lights or candle sconces, executed in hand-forged iron and mounted on shaped oak plaques. The design is inspired by ecclesiastical and monastery-style interiors, with pointed arch oak backplates and robust forged iron arms supporting candle sleeves with drip pans and central spikes. Each plaque bears a carved circular monogram at the top, reading OA or AO, likely the mark of the craftsman or workshop. The combination of dark-stained oak, hammered ironwork, and architectural pointed-arch silhouette gives the pair a strong old-world character, ideal for interiors in Gothic, monastery, medieval revival, or rustic historic styles. These sconces were likely made as a decorative custom pair, intended to be mounted symmetrically on either side of a chimney piece, mirror, doorway, or hall niche. Their sculptural presence makes them equally suitable as wall decoration in a country house, château-style interior, or atmospheric hospitality setting.
