About the Item

This modernist design wall light was designed by the Kinkeldey design team during the 1970s, and manufactured in Germany. A handmade and high quality piece. The crystals are meticulously cut in such a way that the radiate the light of the bulbs in different directions. Brass backplate, brass lamp sockets and screws. The removable hexagonal crystals are hand polished and secured to the frame with solid brass decorative cylinder screws. Kinkeldey is German manufacturer of high-end lighting fixtures. The company attracted international attention when they won the prestigious IF Design Award in 1969 with a chandelier fitted with prism cut crystals. During the 1970s Kinkeldey produced a number of variations on this award winning model, like the one offered here. Although these lamps show the same quality as fixtures of companies like Bakalowits, Lobmeyer and Palwa, the Kinkeldey models tend to be more modern in their design approach.
