RA wall by Darmes Design by Alexandre Joncas Dimensions: 5.5 x H 110 cm Materials: Hand-bent glass LED tube, 12k Gold Plated Steel Design by Alexandre Joncas RA Wall participates in its surroundings by playing with contrasts, shadows and reflections. The circular neon tube emits a bright light that reflects softly on the wall. The disc eclipses a part of the light and draws in the hues of the setting. Neon has long evoked images of harsh, white commercial lighting or bright, coloured flashy signs in the dark. D’Armes gave neon a new use by distinctively shaping it to become the centrepiece of warm and luxurious lighting design. The glass neon tubes, bent manually, contain a mixture of gaz and rare minerals that produce a warm, dimmable light with surprising features: 3000k – 1800 lumens. Seductive and exceptional, RA lighting emits a hypnotic luminosity and aura. RA Wall design was awarded an Archiproducts Design Award. Alexandre Joncas and Gildas Le Bars set up their design studio to create enigmatic and modern light structures with a singular poetic approach. Nestled in the lush landscape of Quebec’s Laurentian mountains, d’Armes boasts a tight-knit team of professionals, designers and craftsmen thoughtfully weaving in tandem refined, distinct and timeless designs. Extensive research, fine engineering and experimentation in materiality, tension, light and space deliver illuminated sculptural pieces featuring disparate elements that inspire unique emotional responses. Each unconventional design is a mystifying enigma hidden in plain sight, beckoning intuitive interpretation and providing escapism with a sublime celestial intensity.
