About the Item

Art Deco table Murano glass lamp signed master Cappellin 1930 blue colored blown glass; all original period parts. The master Cappellin worked with Venini and Carlo Scarpa and was one of the major master of Murano glass. MVM Cappellin & C. was one of the main artistic Murano glass factories in Venice. It was founded in 1925 and closed in 1932. STORY OF GIACOMO CAPPELLIN AND HIS FACTORY It was founded in 1925 by Giacomo Cappellin after the separation from Paolo Venini with whom four years earlier, in 1921, he had founded Cappellin Venini & C. MVM Cappellin & C. was based in Palazzo Da Mula in Murano. The artistic direction was initially entrusted by Giacomo Cappellin to Vittorio Zecchin who followed him by Cappellin Venini & C. In 1926, the young architect Carlo Scarpa took over the artistic direction, who personalized the production with great innovations in design and production methods. The factory went bankrupt in 1932 and in 1933 it was taken over by the oldest Pauly & C. - Compagnia Venezia Murano, which made heritage of the drawings and of the entire collection.
