About the Item

A striking vintage chrome table lamp executed in the spirit of the American Machine Age, its sculptural silhouette recalling the streamlined designs associated with Donald Deskey and Gilbert Rohde. Although we're not exactly sure of the date of manufacture, the lamp beautifully captures the bold geometric forms and polished industrial aesthetic that defined Art Deco lighting of the 1930s. The design is composed of a substantial circular base supporting a graceful cantilevered chrome arm that cradles a hemispherical "mushroom" shade. The uninterrupted sweep of the support creates a wonderfully balanced profile, while the mirror-polished chrome lends the lamp an elegant architectural presence from every angle. Equally suited to Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern or contemporary interiors, the lamp functions as both practical lighting and a sculptural decorative object. The lamp is in very good vintage condition with no significant dents or major blemishes. The chrome retains a bright, reflective finish with only light surface wear consistent with age and careful use. Measures 7.75 inches in diameter and 12.75 inches high.
