About the Item

Oversized light bulb table lamp featuring a ribbed, threaded enameled metal base in chartreuse yellow-green — scaled to replicate a standard Edison screw fitting in exaggerated form. The shade is a smooth opaline frosted glass globe shaped precisely after a classic A-type incandescent bulb. Small metal rivets secure the glass at the collar where it meets the base. The lamp diffuses light softly through the frosted glass when illuminated. The design draws directly from the Pop Art era's embrace of everyday objects as subject matter. Ingo Maurer's original Bulb lamp, produced in 1966, placed a standard incandescent bulb inside an oversized blown glass replica of the same form — a conceptual loop that became one of the most recognizable lighting designs of the 20th century. This lamp follows that same formal logic, translating the light bulb's utilitarian silhouette into a standalone object. Shows visible wear including scratches and paint loss on the enameled base, consistent with age and use.
