About the Item

Produced by an Italian decorative workshop, mid-20th century. A 20th-century Italian giltwood table lamp conceived in the Neoclassical Revival manner, its baluster form and restrained ornament drawing on classical architectural vocabulary The restrained use of turquoise reflects a classical polychrome tradition, drawing on ancient and Renaissance precedents rather than later patination effects, evoking pietra dura, controlled colour was used to articulate architectural form within gilded surfaces.
