About the Item

Late 20th c., pair of Italian Louis XVI style gold plated, patinated bronze and gilt bronze column table lamps by Gherardo Degli Albizzi. Of beautiful quality, two light, fluted, columnar body, applied classical decoration to fluted capital with masks and festoons to lower triangular portion, unmarked. An example of this lamp in malachite can be found on the GDA company website. These lamps come with lovely pleated linen lampshades. The Gherardo Degli Albizzi factory was founded in 1960. Gherardo Degli Albizzi realizes faithful reproductions of chandeliers, candlesticks and appliques in antique style combining the ancient techniques of working with prestigious materials the bronzes are first melted in the ground or with the ancient technique of lost wax and then chiseled. The entire production process is carried out in the heart of the historic center of Florence, a few steps from Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti. Dimensions: 28"h x 6.25"w (total) Condition: Good, no visible condition issues. These lamps have been professionally rewired by The Lamp Shop, Summit, NJ, with gold silk cord and with new bulb sockets. Provenance: A Private Collection: 146 Central Park West, New York.
