About the Item

An authentic, rare and iconic orientable table lamp, Mid-Century-Modern, Modernist, Fifties, Forme-Libre, articulated brass structure with original perforated shade by R. Lunel for Maison Lunel, France 1950. This thin aerial lamp is based on wighted thick circular brass base, holding one central fully orientable brass arm, including one brass interruptor. The brass arm is orientable from its iconic rotative brass system, usually seen on the floor lamp models from Lunel, rarely on this table lamp version. The arm is also orientable on its top, allowing the shade to be oriented 180° around its center. This shade is a metal and bright yellow perforated paper original diffuser, allowing directional lightning directions up and down (orientable of course) and a charming constellation of micro light dots, giving the lamp its incredible charm. The lamp is in great original condition : all brass parts are clean and golden shiny. The shade is in good condition but showing some visible signs of use on the paper (no real traces but slight bended areas). The lamp can be placed vertically, in a very classical position, and then measures : H 69 x D 35 cm. Placed in diagonal the overall dimensions are : 96 x 45 x 35.5 cm. The shade is amazing but also quite representative of the "fun" French fifties, so we can replace it (or add) by a similar cream white shade to give the lamp a more warm, elegant and contemporary look. This is a great piece of lightning for any 1950's modern collector, and a real charming piece at the same time.
