Varenna Verre Églomisé Convex Mirror 24 Carat Red Gold Leaf 6mm Low-Iron Glass Handmade in England. There are mirrors. And then there are objects of light. The Varenna glass convex wall mirror is crafted from 6mm low-iron glass for exceptional clarity — eliminating the green hue found in standard glass and allowing pure, uninterrupted reflection. The result is luminous depth, even before the gilding begins. The real artistry lies in the verre églomisé. From the French meaning “gilded glass,” verre églomisé is a centuries-old decorative process in which precious metal leaf is applied to the reverse of the glass. Using a traditional gelatin adhesive, 24 carat red gold leaf is laid by hand, producing a rich, mirror-reflective finish that feels both historic and quietly opulent. The convex curvature gently expands the room, capturing architecture, movement and light in a way flat glass cannot. By day it glows; by evening it deepens into warm, molten tones. At 120cm in diameter with a 7cm projection, Varenna is unapologetically architectural — a sculptural focal point held in place with four precision-matched wall fixings that allow the glass to appear suspended. For larger or more intimate settings, the Varenna is also available in 80cm and 120cm diameters. For truly bespoke interiors, we offer fabrication in an array of precious metal leaf finishes — from pale champagne gold to antique silver, platinum and rose tones — allowing designers to tailor the mirror to its environment.
