Divergente Double Mirror by Andres Monnier One of a Kind Dimensions: W 120 x L 90 x H 180 cm Materials: grey quarry stone, glass (mirror). The piece inspired by a convergent plate boundary, the location where two tectonic plates are moving toward each other, often causing one plate to slide below the other. The collision of tectonic plates can result in earthquakes, volcanoes, the formation of mountains, and other geological events. Mirrors represent an emerging reaction caused by a separation of an old stone that has a link with anyone who sees its reflection. A way of freeing us from illusions by showing different possibilities in limitless reflections. The figures are made with black marble from Puebla, Mexico. Andrés Monnier is a Mexican artist born in Guadalajara but based in Ensenada. his purpose is to create sculptural pieces to express stories through the synergy between art, design and sculpture. In 2017 he founded his studio, where hand in hand with his team, created pieces with fire, art objects and functional furniture with rock, glass, concrete, wood and metal. At the end of 2020 Andrés began to create his first collection of pieces with rock. His signature material. it was until 2021 when he (with studies in medicine and industrial engineering) decided to launch as an emerging artist and take held his first exhibition entitled "Olympo", in which he exhibited the 17 pieces of this first collection inspired in Greek Mythology. In 2021 Monnier signed a contract with Galerie Philia. An international contemporary art gallery. It was with Philia that Andrés participated in his first exhibition as an artist in Tribeca, NY. Monnier has also exhibited with Elle Deco, Salón Cosa, Zona Maco, Design Hunter and Galería L-86. And Collaborated with House Of Kirschner, Bottega Veneta and Galerie Philia. His motivation is to use different techniques and languages of creation to innovate with its proposals the world of conventional furniture. Andrés is a self-taught sculptor whose dream is to create and design his universe of pieces.
