Italy, 19th century The console top, painted to resemble a dark veined marble, rests on a base, figuring a vine stump, complete with twining branches and vine leaves. The exuberance of these beautifully carved and gilded twining wreaths of vines, wrapping around the mirror, is characteristic of the way, the 19th century exploited, by exaggerating them, the motives from the previous century. Richly carved and gilded wood... Beautiful patina! Probably made in Florence or venice during the second half of the 19th century. This picturesque style, joins in a wider way,in the romantic stream. Part of a magnificent and very rare set, comprising a pedestal table, two consoles and their mirrors. The consoles and mirrors forming a quasi pair (slight differences to the base and marble plateau), they are displayed in our showroom beside one another and it looks just glorious... More images available upon request. Atelier florentin ou vénitien, 2ème moitié du 19ème s., Merveilleusement exotique, ce meuble dispose d’un plateau en bois peint. Le piètement de la console est formé d’une souche d’où jaillissent des feuilles et repose sur un socle sculpté en bois doré imitant les rochers. L’exubérance de cet ensemble en bois doré, avec son miroir où s’entrelacent des sculptures de feuillages et de rameaux de vigne, est caractéristique de la manière dont le 19ème s. exploitait, en les exagérant, les motifs du siècle précédent. Style pittoresque qui s’inscrit, d’une manière plus large, dans le courant romantique. Ce miroir et sa console, font partie d'une quasi paire avec notre N° 2, sur laquelle le plateau est en marbre brèche, un socle également un peu différent. Nous avons choisi, de leur laisser chacune leur particularité d'origine, il est bien entendu, qu'ayant des dimensions similaires un plateau de marbre pourrait être placé sur cet ensemble. Venant se joindre aux deux ensembles consoles et miroirs, un ravissant et rare guéridon de la même époque , également décoré de feuilles de vigne.. Tous ces objets en bois doré ont la même patine.!..
