Large French Modern Ceramic Mirror Signed F. Lembo. Francois Lembo mirror in gilt fired ceramic decorated with turquoise, red-orange and black inset jewels. This French mid century ceramic mirror is incised with F. Lembo signature on the back. This mirror can be displayed vertically or horizontally. This is the largest Lembo ceramic mirror we have ever seen! A native of Vallauris, France, François Lembo started his pottery career in 1951 in the workshops of Calva and Rossignol. After his apprenticeship and having completed his national service, he worked for three years in his father in law, Marc Roussel's studio, before opening his own studio in Vallauris in 1960. The work of Roussel, influenced by Byzantine art, inspired Lembo to create mirrors, often decorated in the style of Russian icons. He produced a number of religious icons decorated...
