About the Item

A beautiful and large scale French mid 19th century Louis XV st. patinated gray and giltwood mirror. The original mirror plate is framed within an elegant mottled giltwood border with a fine Les Oves design. At the base are richly carved and most decorative scrolled designs with charming acanthus leaves at each corner. Above are wonderful scrolled movements with a carved lattice design leading to the striking intricately detailed pierced giltwood top crown with charming flowers and fanciful movements centering the beautiful foliate reserve. This mirror was formerly in a French Boiserie. All original gilt throughout.
