About the Item

An elegant pewter-framed mirror produced by Taidetakomo Antti Hakkarainen in Finland during the 1920-30s. The design reflects the transitional period between Nordic Classicism and the emerging functionalist movement, combining restrained architectural lines with subtle decorative details inspired by earlier traditions. The hand-crafted pewter frame is crowned by a finely cast ornament depicting a cherubic figure standing within a shell motif, flanked by scrolling foliage. This decorative crest lends the mirror a distinctly Scandinavian interpretation of classical ornamentation while maintaining the simplicity and refinement characteristic of Finnish decorative arts of the period. The lower frame is adorned with a delicate engraved pattern that further enriches the otherwise understated design. Thanks to its modest scale and timeless aesthetic, the mirror integrates effortlessly into a variety of interiors. Equally suited to an entrance hall, bedroom, dressing area, or powder room, it provides both decorative presence and practical function. The soft, silvery tone of the pewter complements modern, traditional, Art Deco, and Scandinavian interiors alike, allowing the piece to bridge different styles with ease. The mirror remains in good original condition with wear consistent with age and use.
